The Lucasian Legacy. The Lucasian Professorship of Mathematics at Cambridge University, 1663-1993 was Robert Bruen's Dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at Boston College Graduate School of Education. Director of Computer Systems and Operations. Whitehead Institute/MIT Center for Genome Research. Aug97-Jul98. Responsible for computer operations, supervised staff for systems management and user support. The CGR is sequencing and mapping DNA as part of the Human Genome Project.
Computer Facilities Manager .Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS). 1989-1997. Responsible for budgeting, planning and supporting research in High Energy Physics and Nuclear Physics, both theoretical and experimental. Professional staff covered networking, operations, systems management, administrative computing, and associated contracts. Presented at annual reviews by funding agency, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Dean's Advisory Committees. In 1993, established a video conferencing facility, which served domestic and international users. Member of two national committees related to the managing the DOE national network (ESNet). Set up international network from CalTech to MIT LNS to CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, which served as the ESNet gateway to Europe.
Systems Manager. 1983-1989. Aeronautics and Astronautics Department. Responsible for building and managing a heterogeneous, intra-departmental network that extended through several buildings as part of the original networking of MIT. Advised several other departments establishing computing environments and worked with Project Athena.

Systems Analyst. Perkin-Elmer Corp., Computer Division. 1982-83 Waltham, MA. Provided technical support for pre- and post- sales efforts to business accounts for software, systems, and management consulting for New England. Responsibilities ranged from configurations and installations to troubleshooting problems and customer training.
Task Leader for Computer Operations. Arcon Corp. 1980-81 Waltham, MA. Worked on a project developing part of the air traffic control system for the FAA (ETABS). Managed computer operations. Second year of project at Sanders in Nashua, New Hampshire.
